The beauty of the earth’s geology, by Sarah Winkler

As lovers of the earth and the beauty transfered by the passage of time on it, we could not avoid stopping to observe the work of Sarah Winkler, a british artist obsessed with geology from an artistic point of view.

Her creative process begins by touring different areas to find that geologically interesting landscape, whether a particular rock, a mountain range or any other wonder of nature. From that she creates sketches on paper that she herself made and applies erosion techniques by adding and removing paint imitating geological textures. Light, climate, materials and their special dimension add to her work a unique touch that she crowns with a horizon line, present in virtually all her creations, which defines the pictorial space creating a story of gestures and actions.

We, as nomads by nature, may only try to discover what secret places are the inspiration for these paintings and travel to that exact destination. If we fail to find them, we will always have Sarah Winkler’s art. A perfect match or even better than reality.
